SUMMARY:Basel: Guest presentation from Amy Mann
DESCRIPTION:This talk takes a closer look at the exciting new project of Fashion Revolution activists and designers Bhaavya Goenka and Paola De Michiel who come together from their studios in Jaipur\, India and Mendrisio\, Switzerland to create fashion that focuses on people\, craft and zero-waste. \n\n\n\nCollaborating between studios based in the Ticino and Jaipur\, Circular Humanity aims to showcase sensibilities coming together in art. We decided to showcase this camaraderie as a response to the impact that closed door\, opaque fashion has had. Fashion has not only been devastating for the environment but has also been tragically cruel to its makers. However\, fashion can equally have a tremendous positive impact. Traces of this positive impact can be found in Indian indigenous systems of crafts. It is this positive impact we strive to advocate through this collection and collaboration. We upcycle textile waste and in the process of upcycling utilise crafts and knowledge indigenous to India\, a system of practice developed by the Jaipur based zero-waste design practice called IRO IRO by Bhaavya Goenka. We enhance this carefully\, consciously and responsibly designed system through the nurtured experience of in Lugano based Design Studio of Paola De Michiel\, Founder & Designer of mer * fille made by humans\, and Regional Head of Fashion Revolution Team Ticino. \n\n\n\nJoin the discussion and learn more!
